Joyful, Joyful

Today after Bible study the kids and I were snacking on some goodies while getting to fellowship with two sweet friends in the fellowship hall. Charlie, one of the elders and worship leader, came in to get something. Lucy proceeded to tell him that he sings with us and had a very nice voice. Of course, she was talking about how he leads us in worship on Sunday mornings. Charlie kindly thanked her and asked if she liked to sing - to which she was quick to answer yes. I asked her if she wanted to sing for him, thinking she'd be too shy. However, she proceeded to sing the first and third verses of Joyful, Joyful. I really thought she'd be shy about it, but she was very excited about performing. Maybe she won't end up being the introvert we thought she would be.

It was such a sweet thing to watch. Obviously, I know that the words don't mean the same thing to her that they do to Nathan and me, but right now we are sowing seeds that we pray God will grow into a great harvest later on. Everything that we do influences our children, and we are accountable to God to teach her His ways and His Truth. Though we fail often, we are grateful for God's continued grace and guidance as we shepherd the children He has given us. What a delight that God allows us to be a part of this!

How cute! And I agree with you about teaching our little ones about the Lord from an early age. Train up a child in the ways of the Lord and when they are old they will not depart from it!
