Lucy ran away!

Some of Lucy's favorite books come from the Frances the Badger series by Russell Hoban. We have A Baby Sister for Frances, Bread and Jam for Frances and A Birthday for Frances. All of them are well loved around here.

There is a scene in A Baby Sister for Frances in which Frances runs away to the family's dining room, and stays under the table. Frances' world was obviously shaken up a bit by baby Gloria being around, and she decided it was time to get away...but not too far, of course. It is a cute scene, and apparently one that Lucy enjoys as well. We were quite amused one night last week when she told us she was running away and proceeded to climb underneath our dining room table. The only difference between Frances and Lucy (other than Frances is a Badger and has a little sister) is that Lucy didn't want to go by herself. So, I happily climbed down there with her.

Oh, this looks like the beginnings of one of my favorite kiddo things: the under-the-table-tent. Take one dining table, drape with a large blanket or sheet over the top, and you have your own personal retreat.

Fun!!

That is hilarious! It's so funny how their little imaginations incorporate that kind of stuff into play time. She's so precious!
